We were lucky enough to take a trip to Cape Cod during the summer and much of the trip focused on water activities and looking for sharks. This studio is always on the lookout for real-life opportunities to connect with our inspirations. We all like animals but Lucas LOVES sharks. We visited the Chatham Fish Pier where the inspiration to memorialize the dogfish shark emerged (the concept of killing the little dogfish made quite an impression), we also saw seals which according to Alex are an example of endangered species making a comeback (very exciting news) and we also visited Lighthouse beach which is closed to swimmers due to the presence of sharks.

As we drove out of Chatham Lucas spotted an installation called “Sharks in the Park” which encouraged local participants to fill a wooden shark with an artistic creation of their own. Inspired by this brief encounter out of the window of our car Lucas became determined to lead this project for BLAMM and as soon as we returned to our studio our very own Land Shark project began. After some hard work over the course of several weeks installation day was a great success.
